Steering & suspension · Rexburg, Idaho

Clunks, wandering, worn tires — your vehicle is telling you something.

Washboard gravel, potholes, and freeze-thaw winters are hard on front ends out here. We find the worn part — not the whole-front-end upsell — and quote it before work starts.

Why it matters

Suspension wear sneaks up on you.

Steering and suspension parts wear so gradually that your hands and seat adjust without you noticing. The looseness, the extra bounce, the little wander at highway speed — it all starts to feel “normal.” It isn't.

Some of it is comfort, but some of it is safety: a badly worn ball joint can separate, and worn shocks add real stopping distance. Suspension is also the number-one tire killer — if your tires wear unevenly, the suspension is usually why.

We put it on the lift, check every joint and bushing, and show you what's actually loose versus what's fine. County roads between Rexburg, Rigby, and Idaho Falls keep us plenty familiar with this work.

FAQ

Suspension questions, answered straight.

Is a clunk over bumps dangerous?

It depends on the source. A worn sway bar link is cheap and low-drama; a worn ball joint or tie rod is a genuine safety issue. You can't tell from the driver's seat — a quick inspection on the lift settles it.

How do I know if I need shocks or struts?

There's no universal mileage — it depends on roads and load. Signs are extra bounce after dips, nose dive under braking, and cupped tire wear. We test and look at the actual parts rather than selling by the odometer.

Why are my tires wearing unevenly?

Uneven wear is usually the suspension talking: worn parts let the wheel tilt or wander from its correct geometry. Fixing the worn part first matters — otherwise new tires just wear out the same way.

Will you tell me if it's fine?

Yes. If the front end checks out tight, that's exactly what we'll say. We only recommend work the measurements and the shake-down on the lift actually support.
